At S&T Impact Advisory Group, we operate as a backbone organization designed to move science advice into a practical civic service model. We strengthen the science advising ecosystem by providing the strategic architecture and flexible support necessary to ensure every state government has access to evidence-informed decision-making.
Fellowship programs are an early stage tool for increasing governmental access to evidence-informed decision-making resources. At this stage we primarily serve science and technology focused fellowship programs that serve state governments.
Free Incubation Services: Building the Foundation
For programs at all stages, we provide community-centered resources to lower the barrier to entry and foster shared learning.
Coaching & Individualized: We support new programs through "founders in residence" or coaches, helping teams in new states like Mississippi and Nebraska to connect with each other, ask the right questions, and build trust within their communities. This coaching model is intended to provide tools and mentorship, similar to the incubator model in the for-profit space, to expedite the process of getting the programs running.
We offer individual coaching sessions and regular virtual check-ins to share best practices and troubleshoot common pain points
Working Groups: Our dedicated cohorts support programs at every stage:
Incubating: For groups exploring feasibility of a fellowship program.
Launching: For programs actively recruiting and building funding.
Sustaining: For established programs focused on long-term stability.
Shared Marketing: We amplify the collective voice of state fellowships through a shared services approach.
Conference Booths: We coordinate and fund shared exhibition space at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) to recruit fellows and engage lawmakers.
Dashboard Inclusion: Programs are featured on our interactive national map, providing visibility and standardized data for the entire ecosystem.
